The Taconic Hills Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Teator as the new Jr./Sr. High School Principal, effective August 19, 2024. The Board of Education approved his appointment at a special meeting on August 14.
Michael Teator previously served as High School Principal of the District from 2007-2009. Since then, he has gained extensive experience in various New York public school districts, including Middleburgh, New Paltz, and Albany. Dr. Teator returns to Taconic Hills carrying a total 27 years of experience in education. He taught as a social studies teacher for 8 years, and has been a district administrator for 21 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from St. John Fisher College, a Master’s degree in Education from the College of Saint Rose, a School District Leader Certification from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Sage College of Albany.
Dr. Teator’s selection followed an extensive interview process conducted by a committee of Taconic Hills staff and students. His experience in improving student performance PK-12 along with implementation of best practices and a dedication to students’ overall success caused him to stand out among the talented pool of applicants.
“I am honored to come back to Taconic Hills, where I was the High School Principal from 2007-2009, and look forward to working with the community again.”, Teator states. “My main goal is to support our students and staff and build upon each of their strengths so that we can continue to improve our District to provide our students with the best education possible.”

Darby Dellea has been appointed Jr./Sr. High Assistant Principal (Grades 7-12)
Laura Backlund takes the title of Primary Principal (Grades PreK-2)
Mary D’Amico takes the title of Intermediate Principal (Grades 3-6)
